well, Sarah, it's from Latin and it means "i've done what i could" and is usually followed by faciant meliora potentes - "may others more capable do better".
by the way, i've looked up for "hope" in dictionary and it says that "сатийсам(satiysam)" is the right word... yep. I've never used it in that sense but who carez.
