Hi.
I am a filmmaker based in Los Angeles and doing research for a screenplay.
I wanted to find some information about a traditional Chechen funeral and tezet, exactly what goes on, how things are performed etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is nothing special.... just read the Koran and all will become clear with it.... Chechen people are Muslim and all traditions was taken from The Book of Life!

a dont think that other muslims have something like movlat and zikr, which are certainly done during the funeral
chechen funerals are very beautiful except for the part of weeping women, that I dont like at all

No problem,it is simlier then a simpliest thing! We are the most ancient population on the Earth,so a long time before we knew Islam we had our own lows and traditions which, in basic part was the same as the muslim's. We always was a pure nation, alien blood flew in ours very seldom,therefore we have a bigest LEGACY of our history as history in general so a personal history of mine,yours...etc... Hm..."nothing especially"

To answer your question: Prior to Islam, the Chechens were pagans.

^ I mean, were Chechens Zoroastrians in the past? I have heard that Zarathushtra lived in Caucasus somewhere between what is now Azerbaijan and Chechnya before migrating to Balkh.
